Hanuman · हनुमान
Hanuman is the devoted servant of Shri Ram in the Ramayana, revered for strength, wisdom and selfless service.
In the Ramayana, Hanuman is the son of Anjana and Kesari, and is also called the son of Vayu, the wind god. He meets Ram while serving Sugriva, crosses the ocean to find Sita in Lanka, and brings the sanjivani herb to revive Lakshman.
Many devotees, especially in North India, worship Hanuman on Tuesdays and Saturdays, though practice varies by region and family. The Hanuman Chalisa, traditionally attributed to Tulsidas, is among the most widely recited prayers to him.
