About this text

Ketu is the shadow planet that, in the Puranic story, is the headless body of the asura Svarbhanu after Vishnu cut off his head (which became Rahu) when he drank the nectar of immortality. In astrology he is linked with detachment, spiritual knowledge and sudden change. This stotra gathers twenty-five of his names, among them Dhumraketu (the smoky banner), Jaimineya, lord of the planets, and Ganeshadeva, and says that whoever recites them is freed from affliction and gains wealth, grain and cattle. Only one independent edition of this stotra was found online, so its names could not be compared; the text is taken from that edition.
