Shri Ram Stuti (Shri Ramchandra Kripalu): Meaning
Shri Ramchandra Kripalu is a stuti by Tulsidas from his Vinay Patrika, in a highly Sanskritised Awadhi. Its first three stanzas describe Ram's beauty and deeds and ask him to live in the heart. As commonly sung, it continues with a chhand and soratha from the Bal Kand of the Ramcharitmanas, where Goddess Gauri blesses Sita that she will marry the one her heart has chosen. The notes below explain each stanza and its key words.

O mind, worship the compassionate Shri Ramchandra, who removes the terrible fear of worldly existence; his eyes, face, hands and feet are like fresh lotuses, red as lotuses. His beauty surpasses countless Kamadevas; he is lovely as a fresh dark rain cloud; his yellow garment shines like lightning. I bow to the pure groom of Janaka's daughter.
The poet tells his own mind (bhaju man) to worship Ram, the remover of the terrible fear of worldly existence. The repeated word kanja (lotus) builds the image: lotus eyes, lotus face, lotus hands and red lotus feet. His beauty surpasses countless Kamadevas; he is dark and fresh as a new rain cloud, and his yellow garment shines like lightning against it. The stanza ends: "I bow to the husband of Janaka's daughter."

Worship the friend of the humble, sun (of Raghu's line), destroyer of the race of demons; the joy of Raghu's line, root of bliss, moon of Kosala, son of Dasharath. A crown on his head, earrings, a lovely tilak, and fine ornaments on every limb; his arms reach to his knees, he holds bow and arrow, and he conquered Khara and Dushana in battle.
Ram is called the friend of the humble and the sun (dinesh) that destroys the lines of demons; the joy of the Raghu clan, the moon of Kosala, the son of Dasharath. He wears a crown, earrings and tilak, and fine ornaments; his arms reach to his knees (a mark of a great person), he holds bow and arrow, and he won the battle against the demons Khara and Dushana.
इति वदति तुलसीदास शंकर शेष मुनि मन रंजनं । मम हृदय कंज निवास कुरु कामादि खल दल गंजनं ॥
iti vadati tulasīdāsa śaṃkara śeṣa muni mana raṃjanaṃ । mama hṛdaya kaṃja nivāsa kuru kāmādi khala dala gaṃjanaṃ ॥
इति वदति iti vadati thus says मन रंजनं mana raṃjanaṃ who delights the mind हृदय कंज hṛdaya kaṃja the lotus of the heart कामादि खल दल kāmādi khala dala the band of wicked ones led by desire गंजनं gaṃjanaṃ destroyer तुलसीदास ऐसा कहते हैं: हे शंकर, शेष और मुनियों के मन को आनंद देने वाले, काम आदि दुष्टों के दल का नाश करने वाले, मेरे हृदय-कमल में निवास कीजिए।
So says Tulsidas: you who delight the minds of Shankar, Shesha and the sages, make your home in the lotus of my heart, destroyer of the hosts of the wicked such as desire.
The poet names himself: "Thus says Tulsidas." Ram delights the minds of Shiva, Shesha and the sages; the prayer is that he should dwell in the lotus of the poet's heart and destroy the band of wicked enemies inside it, led by desire (kama). The enemies here are inner ones: desire, anger and greed.

(Gauri's blessing to Sita:) "The groom your heart has fallen for, naturally handsome and dark, will be yours; he is a treasury of compassion and all-knowing, and he knows your nature and your love." Hearing Gauri's blessing in this way, Sita and her companions were glad at heart; says Tulsi, having worshipped Bhavani again and again, she went to the palace with a joyful mind.
This stanza is from the Bal Kand. Sita has prayed to Gauri (Parvati) in the garden, and the goddess answers: the groom on whom your heart is set, naturally handsome and dark, will be yours; the treasury of compassion, the all-knowing one, knows your love and character. Hearing Gauri's blessing, Sita and her companions rejoice; Tulsi says she worshipped Bhavani again and again and went back to the palace glad at heart.
अनुकूल anukūla favourable मंजुल मंगल मूल maṃjula maṃgala mūla the lovely root of auspiciousness वाम अङ्ग vāma aṅga the left side of the body फरकन pharakana to throb गौरी को अनुकूल जानकर सीता जी के हृदय का हर्ष कहा नहीं जा सकता; सुंदर मंगल के मूल उनके बाएँ अंग फड़कने लगे (शुभ शकुन)।
Knowing Gauri to be favourable, Sita's joy could not be described; her left limbs, the root of all lovely auspiciousness, began to throb (a good omen).
Soratha: knowing Gauri to be favourable, Sita's joy could not be put into words; her left side (eye and arm) began to throb, a sign of auspiciousness and good fortune for a woman in Indian tradition.
