बाएं कर में वीणा दाएं कर माला ।baen kar men vina daen kar mala |शीश मुकुट मणि सोहे गल मोतियन माला ॥shish mukut mani sohe gal motiyan mala ||
bāeṃ kara meṃ vīṇā dāeṃ kara mālā । śīśa mukuṭa maṇi sohe gala motiyana mālā ॥
बाएँ हाथ में वीणा और दाएँ हाथ में माला है; सिर पर मणि-जड़ित मुकुट और गले में मोतियों की माला शोभा देती है।
A veena in your left hand and a rosary in your right; a jewelled crown adorns your head and a string of pearls your neck.

देवी शरण जो आए उनका उद्धार किया ।devi sharan jo ae unka uddhar kiya |पैठी मंथरा दासी रावण संहार किया ॥paithi manthara dasi ravan sanhar kiya ||
devī śaraṇa jo āe unakā uddhāra kiyā । paiṭhī maṃtharā dāsī rāvaṇa saṃhāra kiyā ॥
हे देवी, जो आपकी शरण में आए, आपने उनका उद्धार किया; दासी मंथरा (की बुद्धि) में प्रवेश करके आपने रावण का संहार कराया।
O Goddess, you uplifted all who came to your shelter; entering (the mind of) the maid Manthara, you brought about Ravana's destruction.

vidyā jñāna pradāyini jñāna prakāśa bharo । moha ajñāna aura timira kā jaga se nāśa karo ॥
विद्या और ज्ञान देने वाली, हमें ज्ञान के प्रकाश से भर दीजिए; संसार से मोह, अज्ञान और अंधकार का नाश कीजिए।
Giver of learning and knowledge, fill us with the light of knowledge; destroy delusion, ignorance and darkness from the world.

जो कोई माँ सरस्वती की यह आरती गाता है, वह हितकारी और सुखकारी ज्ञान और भक्ति पाता है।
Whoever sings this aarti of Mother Saraswati gains knowledge and devotion, which bring welfare and happiness.

About this text

Jai Saraswati Mata is a Hindi aarti to Saraswati. It describes her moon-like face, her lotus seat and swan mount, the veena in her left hand and the rosary in her right, and her crown and pearl necklace. One stanza recalls the tradition that she entered the mind of Manthara, the maid in the Ramayana, setting in motion the events that led to Ravana's end. The closing stanzas ask her to give the light of knowledge, destroy delusion and accept the offerings of incense, lamp, fruit and dry fruit. The refrain "Jai Saraswati Mata" follows each stanza.
