About this text

The tulsi (holy basil) plant is worshipped in Hindu homes as a goddess, beloved of Vishnu: a tulsi leaf is placed on every offering to him, and on Dev Uthani Ekadashi the plant is ceremonially married to Vishnu as Shaligram (Tulsi Vivah).
