Krishna Saptami · कृष्ण सप्तमी

Krishna Saptami is the 7th tithi (lunar day) of the dark (waning) fortnight.

A tithi is the time the Moon takes to move 12° ahead of the Sun, so it can be shorter or longer than a day and seldom begins at midnight. The tithi that prevails at sunrise usually gives its name to the day, which is why the same tithi can fall on different dates in different places.
