हे माँ, आपने सुंदर सुनहरी चुनरी धारण की है; हीरे और पन्ने दमकते हैं, आपने तन का शृंगार किया है।
Mother, you have put on a beautiful golden garment; diamonds and emeralds sparkle as you adorn yourself.

गेरू लाल छटा छबि बदन कमल सोहे ।geru lal chhata chhabi badan kamal sohe |मंद हंसत करुणामयी त्रिभुवन जन मोहे ॥mand hansat karunamayi tribhuvan jan mohe ||
gerū lāla chaṭā chabi badana kamala sohe । maṃda haṃsata karuṇāmayī tribhuvana jana mohe ॥
गेरू की लाल छटा से आपकी छवि सुंदर है और मुख कमल-सा शोभित है; करुणामयी, मंद-मंद मुस्कराती हुई आप तीनों लोकों को मोह लेती हैं।
The red of ochre gives you a lovely glow, and your lotus face shines; smiling gently, full of compassion, you charm the people of the three worlds.

स्वर्ण सिंहासन बैठी चंवर दुरे प्यारे ।swarn sinhasan baithi chanvar dure pyare |धूप दीप मधु मेवा भोज धरे न्यारे ॥dhup dip madhu meva bhoj dhare nyare ||
svarṇa siṃhāsana baiṭhī caṃvara dure pyāre । dhūpa dīpa madhu mevā bhoja dhare nyāre ॥
आप सोने के सिंहासन पर विराजमान हैं और सुंदर चँवर डुलाए जाते हैं; धूप, दीप, मधु, मेवा और भोजन आपके सामने रखे गए हैं।
You sit on a golden throne as lovely whisks are waved; incense, lamps, honey, dried fruit and food are set before you.

गुड़ अरु चना परम प्रिय तामें संतोष कियो ।gur aru chana param priy tamen santosh kiyo |संतोषी कहलाई भक्तन वैभव दियो ॥santoshi kahalai bhaktan vaibhav diyo ||
guṙa aru canā parama priya tāmeṃ saṃtoṣa kiyo । saṃtoṣī kahalāī bhaktana vaibhava diyo ॥
गुड़ और चना आपको परम प्रिय हैं, उन्हीं में आपने संतोष किया; इसलिए आप संतोषी कहलाईं, और आपने भक्तों को वैभव दिया।
Jaggery and chickpeas are most dear to you, and you were content with them; so you are called Santoshi, and you gave your devotees prosperity.

शुक्रवार प्रिय मानत आज दिवस सोही ।shukravar priy manat aj divas sohi |भक्त मंडली छाई कथा सुनत मोही ॥bhakt mandali chhai katha sunat mohi ||
śukravāra priya mānata āja divasa sohī । bhakta maṃḍalī chāī kathā sunata mohī ॥
शुक्रवार आपको प्रिय है, आज वही दिन है; भक्तों की मंडली कथा सुनने को जुटी है।
Friday is the day you hold dear; today is that day, and the company of devotees has gathered to hear your story.

मंदिर जग मग ज्योति मंगल ध्वनि छाई ।mandir jag mag jyoti mangal dhwani chhai |विनय करें हम सेवक चरनन सिर नाई ॥vinay karen ham sevak charnan sir nai ||
maṃdira jaga maga jyoti maṃgala dhvani chāī । vinaya kareṃ hama sevaka caranana sira nāī ॥
मंदिर दीपों से जगमगा रहा है और मंगल ध्वनि छाई है; हम सेवक आपके चरणों में सिर नवाकर विनती करते हैं।
The temple glows with light and sounds of auspicious songs fill it; we, your servants, bow our heads at your feet in prayer.

भक्ति भावमय पूजा अंगीकृत कीजै ।bhakti bhavmay puja angikrit kijai |जो मन बसे हमारे इच्छित फल दीजै ॥jo man base hamare ichchhit phal dijai ||
bhakti bhāvamaya pūjā aṃgīkṛta kījai । jo mana base hamāre icchita phala dījai ॥
भक्ति-भाव से की गई हमारी पूजा स्वीकार कीजिए, और हमारे मन की इच्छा पूरी कीजिए।
Accept our worship, offered with devotion, and grant the wish that dwells in our hearts.

दुखी दारिद्री रोगी संकट मुक्त किए ।dukhi daridri rogi sankat mukt kie |बहु धन धान्य भरे घर सुख सौभाग्य दिए ॥bahu dhan dhanya bhare ghar sukh saubhagya die ||
dukhī dāridrī rogī saṃkaṭa mukta kie । bahu dhana dhānya bhare ghara sukha saubhāgya die ॥
आपने दुखियों, दरिद्रों और रोगियों को संकट से मुक्त किया है, और घरों को धन-धान्य, सुख और सौभाग्य से भर दिया है।
You have freed the sorrowful, the poor and the sick from their troubles, and filled homes with wealth, grain, happiness and good fortune.

ध्यान धरे जो तेरा वांछित फल पायो ।dhyan dhare jo tera vanchhit phal payo |पूजा कथा श्रवण कर घर आनन्द आयो ॥puja katha shravan kar ghar anand ayo ||
dhyāna dhare jo terā vāṃchita phala pāyo । pūjā kathā śravaṇa kara ghara ānanda āyo ॥
जिसने आपका ध्यान किया, उसने मनचाहा फल पाया; पूजा और कथा-श्रवण से घर में आनंद आया।
Whoever meditates on you has gained the fruit they wished for; by worship and hearing your story, joy has come into the home.

चरण गहे की लज्जा रखियो जगदम्बे ।charan gahe ki lajja rakhiyo jagadambe |संकट तू ही निवारे दयामयी अम्बे ॥sankat tu hi nivare dayamayi ambe ||
caraṇa gahe kī lajjā rakhiyo jagadambe । saṃkaṭa tū hī nivāre dayāmayī ambe ॥
हे जगदंबे, जिसने आपके चरण पकड़े हैं उसकी लाज रखिए; हे दयामयी अंबे, आप ही संकट दूर करती हैं।
Mother of the world, protect the honour of one who has held your feet; compassionate Amba, you alone remove all troubles.

सन्तोषी माता की आरती जो कोई जन गावे ।santoshi mata ki arti jo koi jan gave |रिद्धि सिद्धि सुख सम्पति जी भर के पावे ॥riddhi siddhi sukh sampati ji bhar ke pave ||
santoṣī mātā kī āratī jo koī jana gāve । riddhi siddhi sukha sampati jī bhara ke pāve ॥
जो कोई संतोषी माता की यह आरती गाता है, वह ऋद्धि-सिद्धि, सुख और संपत्ति जी भरकर पाता है।
Whoever sings this aarti of Santoshi Mata receives prosperity, success, happiness and wealth to their heart's content.

About this text

This aarti to Santoshi Mata describes her golden garments and jewels, her golden throne and the offerings set before her. It explains her name: jaggery and chickpeas are dear to her and she was content (santosh) with them, so she is called Santoshi. It recalls her Friday katha, asks her to accept the worship and fulfil the devotee's wish, and ends with the blessings of singing it. The refrain "Jai Santoshi Mata, Maiya Jai Santoshi Mata" is sung after each stanza; some editions also repeat the second half of each line.
