श्री गणपति गुरुपद कमल प्रेम सहित सिरनाय । नवग्रह चालीसा कहत शारद होत सहाय ॥

shri ganapati gurupad kamal prem sahit siranay | navagrah chalisa kahat sharad hot sahay ||

श्री गणपति और गुरु के चरण-कमलों में प्रेम सहित सिर नवाकर, मैं नवग्रह चालीसा कहता हूँ, और शारदा सहायता करती हैं।

Bowing my head with love at the lotus feet of Shri Ganapati and the guru, I tell the Navgrah Chalisa, and Sharada helps me.

जय जय रवि शशि सोम बुध जय गुरु भृगु शनि राज । जयति राहु अरु केतु ग्रह करहु अनुग्रह आज ॥

jay jay ravi shashi som budh jay guru bhrigu shani raj | jayati rahu aru ketu grah karahu anugrah aj ||

रवि, शशि, सोम, बुध की जय, जय; गुरु, भृगु और शनिराज की जय; राहु और केतु ग्रहों की जय: आज अनुग्रह कीजिए।

Glory, glory to the Sun, the Moon, Mercury; glory to Jupiter, Venus and King Saturn; glory to the planets Rahu and Ketu: be gracious today.

प्रथमहि रवि कहं नावौं माथा । करहुं कृपा जनि जानि अनाथा ॥

prathamahi ravi kahan navaun matha | karahun kripa jani jani anatha ||

पहले मैं रवि को माथा नवाता हूँ: मुझे अनाथ जानकर कृपा कीजिए।

First I bow my head to the Sun: have mercy, knowing me helpless.

हे आदित्य दिवाकर भानू । मैं मति मन्द महा अज्ञानू ॥

he adity divakar bhanu | main mati mand maha agyanu ||

हे आदित्य, दिवाकर, भानु, मैं मंदबुद्धि और महा अज्ञानी हूँ।

O Aditya, Divakara, Bhanu, I am dull of mind and very ignorant.

अब निज जन कहं हरहु कलेषा । दिनकर द्वादश रूप दिनेशा ॥

ab nij jan kahan harahu kalesha | dinakar dvadash rup dinesha ||

अब अपने जनों के कष्ट हरिए, हे दिनकर, बारह रूपों वाले दिनेश।

Now take away the troubles of your own people, maker of the day, lord of the day with twelve forms.

नमो भास्कर सूर्य प्रभाकर । अर्क मित्र अघ मोघ क्षमाकर ॥

namo bhaskar sury prabhakar | ark mitr agh mogh kshamakar ||

भास्कर, सूर्य, प्रभाकर, अर्क, मित्र को नमस्कार, जो पाप को निष्फल करते और क्षमा करते हैं।

Salutations to Bhaskara, Surya, Prabhakara, Arka, Mitra, who forgives and makes sin fruitless.

शशि मयंक रजनीपति स्वामी । चन्द्र कलानिधि नमो नमामि ॥

shashi mayank rajanipati svami | chandr kalanidhi namo namami ||

हे शशि, मयंक, रजनीपति स्वामी; हे चंद्र, कलानिधि, आपको नमस्कार।

Shashi, Mayanka, lord of the night, master; Chandra, treasury of the digits, salutations to you.

राकापति हिमांशु राकेशा । प्रणवत जन तन हरहुं कलेशा ॥

rakapati himanshu rakesha | pranavat jan tan harahun kalesha ||

हे राकापति, हिमांशु, राकेश, प्रणाम करने वालों के शरीर के कष्ट हरिए।

Lord of the full moon, cool-rayed Rakesha, take away the bodily troubles of those who bow to you.

सोम इन्दु विधु शान्ति सुधाकर । शीत रश्मि औषधि निशाकर ॥

som indu vidhu shanti sudhakar | shit rashmi aushadhi nishakar ||

सोम, इंदु, विधु, शांत सुधाकर, शीतल किरणों वाले, औषधियों के स्वामी, निशाकर।

Soma, Indu, Vidhu, peaceful Sudhakara, cool-rayed lord of herbs, maker of the night.

तुम्हीं शोभित सुन्दर भाल महेशा । शरण शरण जन हरहुं कलेशा ॥

tumhin shobhit sundar bhal mahesha | sharan sharan jan harahun kalesha ||

आप महेश के सुंदर ललाट पर शोभित हैं; मैं शरण में हूँ, शरण में: भक्तों के कष्ट हरिए।

You shine on the lovely brow of Mahesha; I take refuge, refuge: take away your people's troubles.

जय जय जय मंगल सुखदाता । लोहित भौमादिक विख्याता ॥

jay jay jay mangal sukhadata | lohit bhaumadik vikhyata ||

सुख देने वाले मंगल की जय, जय, जय, जो लोहित, भौम आदि नामों से विख्यात हैं।

Glory, glory, glory to Mars, giver of joy, renowned as Lohita, Bhauma and other names.

अंगारक कुज रुज ऋणहारी । करहु दया यही विनय हमारी ॥

angarak kuj ruj rinahari | karahu daya yahi vinay hamari ||

हे अंगारक, कुज, रोग और ऋण हरने वाले, दया कीजिए; यही हमारी विनती है।

Angaraka, Kuja, remover of disease and debt, have mercy; this is our prayer.

हे महिसुत छितिसुत सुखराशी । लोहितांग जय जन अघनाशी ॥

he mahisut chhhitisut sukharashi | lohitang jay jan aghanashi ||

हे महीसुत, क्षितिसुत, सुख की राशि, लाल अंगों वाले, भक्तों के पाप नष्ट करने वाले, आपकी जय।

O son of the earth, born of the ground, heap of joy, red-limbed, glory to you who destroy your people's sins.

अगम अमंगल अब हर लीजै । सकल मनोरथ पूरण कीजै ॥

agam amangal ab har lijai | sakal manorath puran kijai ||

अब अगम अमंगल को हर लीजिए, और सब मनोरथ पूरे कीजिए।

Now take away misfortune beyond reckoning, and fulfil every wish.

जय शशि नन्दन बुध महाराजा । करहु सकल जन कहँ शुभ काजा ॥

jay shashi nandan budh maharaja | karahu sakal jan kahan shubh kaja ||

चंद्र-पुत्र बुध महाराज की जय; सब लोगों के काम शुभ कीजिए।

Glory to Mercury, son of the Moon, great king; make all people's affairs go well.

दीजैबुद्धि बल सुमति सुजाना । कठिन कष्ट हरि करि कल्याणा ॥

dijaibuddhi bal sumati sujana | kathin kasht hari kari kalyana ||

बुद्धि, बल, सुमति और समझ दीजिए; कठिन कष्ट हरकर कल्याण कीजिए।

Give intelligence, strength, good sense and wisdom; take away hard suffering and bring good.

हे तारासुत रोहिणी नन्दन । चन्द्रसुवन दुख द्वन्द्व निकन्दन ॥

he tarasut rohini nandan | chandrasuvan dukh dvandv nikandan ||

हे तारा-पुत्र, रोहिणी-नंदन, चंद्र-सुवन, दुख और द्वंद्व का नाश करने वाले,

O son of Tara, darling of Rohini, son of the Moon, destroyer of sorrow and strife,

पूजहु आस दास कहु स्वामी । प्रणत पाल प्रभु नमो नमामी ॥

pujahu as das kahu svami | pranat pal prabhu namo namami ||

हे स्वामी, अपने दास की आशा पूरी कीजिए; हे प्रणतपाल प्रभु, आपको नमस्कार।

fulfil the hopes of your servant, master; Lord, protector of the humble, salutations to you.

जयति जयति जय श्री गुरुदेवा । करों सदा तुम्हरी प्रभु सेवा ॥

jayati jayati jay shri gurudeva | karon sada tumhari prabhu seva ||

श्री गुरुदेव बृहस्पति की जय, जय, जय; हे प्रभु, मैं सदा आपकी सेवा करूँ।

Glory, glory, glory to Shri Gurudeva, Jupiter; Lord, may I serve you always.

देवाचार्य तुम देव गुरु ज्ञानी । इन्द्र पुरोहित विद्यादानी ॥

devachary tum dev guru gyani | indr purohit vidyadani ||

हे देवाचार्य, आप देवताओं के ज्ञानी गुरु, इंद्र के पुरोहित और विद्या देने वाले हैं।

Teacher of the gods, you are the wise guru of the gods, Indra's priest and giver of learning.

वाचस्पति बागीश उदारा । जीव बृहस्पति नाम तुम्हारा ॥

vachaspati bagish udara | jiv brihaspati nam tumhara ||

उदार वाचस्पति, वागीश: जीव और बृहस्पति आपके नाम हैं।

Vachaspati, generous lord of speech: Jiva and Brihaspati are your names.

विद्या सिन्धु अंगिरा नामा । करहु सकल विधि पूरण कामा ॥

vidya sindhu angira nama | karahu sakal vidhi puran kama ||

हे विद्या के सागर, अंगिरा के वंशज, हर प्रकार से सब काम पूरे कीजिए।

Ocean of learning, named for Angiras, fulfil every wish in every way.

शुक्र देव पद तल जल जाता । दास निरन्तन ध्यान लगाता ॥

shukr dev pad tal jal jata | das nirantan dhyan lagata ||

शुक्रदेव के चरण-कमलों में दास निरंतर ध्यान लगाता है।

At the lotus feet of Lord Venus your servant meditates without pause.

हे उशना भार्गव भृगु नन्दन । दैत्य पुरोहित दुष्ट निकन्दन ॥

he ushana bhargav bhrigu nandan | daity purohit dusht nikandan ||

हे उशना, भार्गव, भृगुनंदन, दैत्यों के पुरोहित, दुष्टों का नाश करने वाले,

O Ushana, Bhargava, son of Bhrigu, priest of the demons, destroyer of the wicked,

भृगुकुल भूषण दूषण हारी । हरहु नेष्ट ग्रह करहु सुखारी ॥

bhrigukul bhushan dushan hari | harahu nesht grah karahu sukhari ||

हे भृगुकुल के भूषण, दोष हरने वाले, अनिष्ट ग्रहों को हरिए और सुखी कीजिए।

ornament of the Bhrigu clan, remover of faults, take away the ill-placed planets and make us happy.

तुहि द्विजबर जोशी सिरताजा । नर शरीर के तुमहीं राजा ॥

tuhi dvijabar joshi sirataja | nar sharir ke tumahin raja ||

आप श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मण, ज्योतिषियों के सिरताज हैं; मनुष्य शरीर के राजा आप ही हैं।

You are the best of Brahmins, crown of astrologers; you alone are king of the human body.

जय श्री शनिदेव रवि नन्दन । जय कृष्णो सौरी जगवन्दन ॥

jay shri shanidev ravi nandan | jay krishno sauri jagavandan ||

सूर्य-पुत्र श्री शनिदेव की जय; जगत द्वारा वंदित, कृष्ण वर्ण वाले सौरि की जय।

Glory to Shri Shanidev, son of the Sun; glory to the dark one, Sauri, whom the world worships.

पिंगल मन्द रौद्र यम नामा । वप्र आदि कोणस्थ ललामा ॥

pingal mand raudr yam nama | vapr adi konasth lalama ||

पिंगल, मंद, रौद्र, यम आपके नाम हैं; वप्र और सुंदर कोणस्थ भी।

Pingala, Manda, Raudra, Yama are your names; Vapra and the lovely Konastha too.

वक्र दृष्टि पिप्पल तन साजा । क्षण महं करत रंक क्षण राजा ॥

vakr drishti pippal tan saja | kshan mahan karat rank kshan raja ||

टेढ़ी दृष्टि वाले, पीपल-सा शरीर सजा; आप क्षण में रंक और क्षण में राजा बना देते हैं।

With crooked glance, your body like the pipal; in a moment you make a pauper, in a moment a king.

ललत स्वर्ण पद करत निहाला । हरहु विपत्ति छाया के लाला ॥

lalat svarn pad karat nihala | harahu vipatti chhhaya ke lala ||

आप अपने सुंदर स्वर्ण-चरणों से निहाल करते हैं; हे छाया के लाल, विपत्ति हरिए।

With your lovely golden feet you bless; take away misfortune, darling son of Chhaya.

जय जय राहु गगन प्रविसइया । तुमही चन्द्र आदित्य ग्रसइया ॥

jay jay rahu gagan pravisiya | tumahi chandr adity grasiya ||

आकाश में प्रवेश करने वाले राहु की जय, जय; चंद्रमा और सूर्य को ग्रसने वाले आप ही हैं।

Glory, glory to Rahu, who enters the sky; you are the one who swallows the Moon and the Sun.

रवि शशि अरि स्वर्भानु धारा । शिखी आदि बहु नाम तुम्हारा ॥

ravi shashi ari svarbhanu dhara | shikhi adi bahu nam tumhara ||

सूर्य और चंद्र के शत्रु, स्वर्भानु कहलाने वाले, शिखी आदि बहुत से नाम आपके हैं।

Enemy of the Sun and Moon, called Svarbhanu, Shikhi and many other names are yours.

सैहिंकेय तुम निशाचर राजा । अर्धकाय जग राखहु लाजा ॥

saihinkey tum nishachar raja | ardhakay jag rakhahu laja ||

आप सिंहिका के पुत्र, निशाचरों के राजा हैं; हे अर्धकाय, जगत की लाज रखिए।

You are Simhika's son, king of the night-roamers; half-bodied one, protect the world's honour.

यदि ग्रह समय पाय कहिं आवहु । सदा शान्ति और सुख उपजावहु ॥

yadi grah samay pay kahin avahu | sada shanti aur sukh upajavahu ||

यदि समय पाकर आप किसी पर ग्रह बनकर आएँ, तो सदा शांति और सुख उपजाइए।

If in the course of time you come as a planet upon someone, always bring peace and joy.

jay shri ketu kathin dukhahari | karahu sujan hit mangalakari ||

कठिन दुख हरने वाले श्री केतु की जय; सज्जनों के हित मंगल कीजिए।

Glory to Shri Ketu, remover of hard sorrow; bring blessings for the good of the virtuous.

ध्वजयुत रुण्ड रूप विकराला । घोर रौद्रतन अघमन काला ॥

dhvajayut rund rup vikarala | ghor raudratan aghaman kala ||

ध्वजा धारण किए, बिना सिर का धड़, विकराल रूप, घोर रौद्र शरीर, पाप-सा काला।

Bearing a banner, a headless trunk, fearsome in form, terrible and fierce in body, dark as sin.

शिखी तारिका ग्रह बलवान । महा प्रताप न तेज ठिकाना ॥

shikhi tarika grah balavan | maha pratap n tej thikana ||

शिखी, पुच्छल तारा, बलवान ग्रह, महा प्रताप वाले और असीम तेज वाले।

Shikhi, the comet, a mighty planet, of great power and boundless brilliance.

वाहन मीन महा शुभकारी । दीजै शान्ति दया उर धारी ॥

vahan min maha shubhakari | dijai shanti daya ur dhari ||

आपका वाहन मीन अत्यंत शुभकारी है; हृदय में दया धारकर शांति दीजिए।

Your mount, the fish, is most auspicious; holding compassion in your heart, grant peace.

तीरथराज प्रयाग सुपासा । बसै राम के सुन्दर दासा ॥

tiratharaj prayag supasa | basai ram ke sundar dasa ||

तीर्थराज प्रयाग के पास राम के दास सुंदर बसते हैं,

Near Prayag, king of holy places, lives Rama's servant Sundar,

ककरा ग्रामहिं पुरे-तिवारी । दुर्वासाश्रम जन दुख हारी ॥

kakara gramahin pure-tivari | durvasashram jan dukh hari ||

ककरा ग्राम में, पुरे-तिवारी में, लोगों के दुख हरने वाले दुर्वासा आश्रम के निकट।

in Kakra village, at Pure Tiwari, by the Durvasa ashram that removes people's sorrows.

नवग्रह शान्ति लिख्यो सुख हेतु । जन तन कष्ट उतारण सेतू ॥

navagrah shanti likhyo sukh hetu | jan tan kasht utaran setu ||

उन्होंने सुख के लिए यह नवग्रह शांति लिखी, जो लोगों के शरीर के कष्टों से पार उतारने वाला सेतु है।

He wrote this Navgrah Shanti for happiness, a bridge to carry people across their bodily troubles.

धन्य नवग्रह देव प्रभु महिमा अगम अपार । चित नव मंगल मोद गृह जगत जनन सुखद्वार ॥

dhany navagrah dev prabhu mahima agam apar | chit nav mangal mod grih jagat janan sukhadvar ||

धन्य हैं नवग्रह देव प्रभु; उनकी महिमा अगम और अपार है। वे चित्त को नव मंगल और आनंद का घर बनाते हैं, जो जगत के लोगों के लिए सुख का द्वार हैं।

Blessed are the lords, the nine planets; their glory is unfathomable and boundless. They make the mind a home of new blessing and joy, the gateway of happiness for the world's people.
